On December 14, 2016, Amendments to nutrition labelling, list of ingredients and food colour requirements of the Food and Drug Regulations came into force on Dec 14, 2016. Companies have a 5 year transition period to meet the new labelling requirements, meaning as of December 14, 2021, all prepackaged food products being manufactured or imported must comply with the new labelling requirements. the US Nutritional Facts label on packaged goods was updated in 2016 and all companies must meet the new requirements by Jan 1, 2021. FOOD LICENCE

The SFCR (Safe Food for Canadians Regulations) came into force on Jan 15, 2019 and the timeline to meet these requirements for manufactured goods was July 15, 2020. Depending on your licensing activities, you may need a food licence to conduct business. Zigma Plus can help determine your food licences needs and submit applications on your behalf.
